Research article „FinTechs Playing in the Regulatory Sandbox-The Effect of Interacting Signals on Funding“

The TIE Institute is pleased to announce that the research article “FinTechs Playing in the Regulatory Sandbox—The Effect of Interacting Signals on Funding” by Bastian Kindermann, Marko Kraljev, and Tessa Flatten has been published in the Information Systems Journal.

The study explores how regulatory sandbox membership affects FinTechs' funding and how additional signals—like entrepreneurial orientation and venture size—interact with this effect. The authors find that while sandbox membership improves funding outcomes, emphasizing a strong entrepreneurial profile can diminish this benefit. Our insights advance research on FinTechs' signaling strategy, suggesting that they should emphasize their banking side over their entrepreneurial, growth-oriented side when communicating with potential investors.
