Publication of paper in the Journal of Management Studies

The TIE Institute is happy to announce that the paper “Attracted to the Hustle? An Impression Management Perspective on Entrepreneurial Hustle in New Venture Recruitment” has recently been published in the Journal of Management Studies. The study is co-authored by Bastian Kindermann, Anna Hocker, and Steffen Strese and explores impression management techniques that entrepreneurs can use in recruiting situations. The authors find that entrepreneurs that present themselves as hustling to job applicants are perceived as more competent. Such competence perception in turn translates into higher organizational attractiveness of the new venture. While the effect of hustling presentations holds independent of the entrepreneur’s gender, it is less pronounced if job applicants themselves are highly entrepreneurial.

The paper was published with open access and can be found via: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/joms.13011
